Get Ready for Spreadsheet Day 2023 – Oct 17th

It’s only one week until Spreadsheet Day 2023 – we celebrate every year on October 17th.

People love to put up holiday decorations in October, so let’s start a new tradition, and put up Spreadsheet Day lights, banners, and anything else we can think of!

I don’t know of any stores that sell Spreadsheet Day decorations, but you’re creative, so I’m sure you can make your own!

I’m not an interior decorator (obviously), so I asked the Microsoft Designer image creator to help me with some fun ideas.

Decorate Your Office

If your office has a colour printer, you can make a batch of colourful charts and worksheets, to hang on the office walls.

Make a couple of banners too, and sign that says, “We Spreadsheets!”

And if there’s any money left in the office supply budget, get an area rug that has a grid pattern!

Spreadsheet Fun at Home

Remember to decorate your home too, because you’ll spend part of Spreadsheet Day there.

Wall hangings with charts and worksheets would be perfect in your living room, along with a “Happy Spreadsheet Day!” banner.

And how about a comfy pillow with “We ♥ Spreadsheets” embroidered on it?

Your family and friends will be delighted!

Outdoor Decorations

If you’re really ambitious, you could decorate the outside of your house too.

Or, if your holiday lights are still up from last year, just turn those on for Spreadsheet Day!

The neighbours might be inspired to join in the celebrations too, and compete to see who has the best light display!

Spreadsheet Day Parade

And finally, if you like to go waaaay over the top with your holiday celebrations, ask your town if you can organize a Spreadsheet Day parade.

You’ll need a few floats, a marching band or two, a clown (but not a scary one), and the mayor can ride in a fancy car, waving to the crowd.

I recommend a mid-afternoon start time, so you avoid causing “grid lock” during rush hour. Yes, the Spreadsheet Day jokes are free, and you get what you pay for!

And, if it’s too late to organize a parade for this year, maybe you can get the local river coloured green for the day, in honour of spreadsheets!
