What will you do to celebrate this year?<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<h3>How Did Spreadsheet Day Get Started?<\/h3>\n<p>In 2010, I realized that there wasn&#8217;t a special day each year to celebrate spreadsheets. Almost everything else has its day \u2013 from food, to beverages, to cities and states. So, to fix that glaring omission, I started Spreadsheet Day. You can read the <a title=\"details on the About page\" href=\"http:\/\/spreadsheet-day.com\/blog\/about\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">details on the About page<\/a>.<\/p>\n<h3>Why October 17th?<\/h3>\n<p>October 17th is the celebration day, because October 17, 1979, is when <a href=\"http:\/\/spreadsheet-day.com\/blog\/spreadsheet-history\/visicalc\/\">VisiCalc was first released<\/a> \u2013 the first spreadsheet for personal computers.
