And a very happy 47th anniversary to VisiCalc!<\/p>\n<h2>Celebrate Spreadsheet Day Year 17<\/h2>\n<p>The first time that we celebrated Spreadsheet Day was on October 17, 2010, so this is our 17th year of spreadsheet celebrations.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Note<\/strong>: We celebrate world-wide, so it\u2019s\u00a0 &#8220;Spreadsheet Day&#8221;, not &#8220;National Spreadsheet Day&#8221; .<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Today is\u00a0 Saturday, so you might be celebrating at home this year, instead of at work. Here are a few non-work Excel files on my Contextures site that you could use while celebrating today:<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 <a href=\"https:\/\/www.contextures.com\/excelgames.html\">Games in Excel<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2022 <a href=\"https:\/\/www.contextures.com\/excel-template-golf-scores.html\">Golf Scores Template<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2022 <a href=\"https:\/\/www.contextures.com\/Excel-Christmas-Planner.html\">Holiday Planner<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2022 <a href=\"https:\/\/www.contextures.com\/excel-weekly-meal-planner.html\">Meal Planner, Weekly<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2022 <a href=\"https:\/\/www.contextures.com\/excelfilesharaldstaff.html\">Radio Streaming in Excel<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Or, make a bowl of popcorn, and <a href=\"https:\/\/spreadsheet-day.com\/blog\/2024\/10\/10\/top-3-movies-spreadsheet-day-2024\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">watch one of these spreadsheet-themed movies<\/a>, that got good ratings from critics and audiences.<\/p>\n<h2>How Spreadsheet Day Started<\/h2>\n<p>Back in February 2010, I <a href=\"https:\/\/contexturesblog.com\/archives\/2010\/02\/15\/we-need-a-spreadsheet-day\/\">proposed that we celebrate Spreadsheet Day<\/a>, and asked for suggestions for an appropriate date.<\/p>\n<p>In March 2010, I set up a poll, based on the suggested dates, and the winning date was October 17th.<\/p>\n<p>That date is a tribute to VisiCalc, the first spreadsheet for personal computers.
