And a very happy 46th anniversary to VisiCalc!<\/p>\n<h2>Spreadsheet Day Year 16<\/h2>\n<p>The first time that we celebrated Spreadsheet Day was on October 17, 2010, so this is our 16th year of spreadsheet celebrations.<\/p>\n<p>And way before Spreadsheet Day started, there were Lotus 1-2-3 parties, with singing and dancing!<\/p>\n<p>I hope you have something equally enthusiastic planned for today!<\/p>\n<div class=\"video-container\"><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"Lotus 1-2-3 Rocks\" width=\"500\" height=\"375\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/5cNJNKkCQ2E?feature=oembed&#038;wmode=opaque\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/div>\n<h2>How Spreadsheet Day Started<\/h2>\n<p>Back in February 2010, I <a href=\"https:\/\/contexturesblog.com\/archives\/2010\/02\/15\/we-need-a-spreadsheet-day\/\">proposed that we celebrate Spreadsheet Day<\/a>, and asked for suggestions for an appropriate date.<\/p>\n<p>In March 2010, I set up a poll, based on the suggested dates, and the winning date was October 17th.<\/p>\n<p>That date is a tribute to VisiCalc, the first spreadsheet for personal computers.
