Spreadsheet Creativity: Amusement Rides
On the Design News blog, author Jon Titus describes how the engineers at Dynamic Structures use an Excel spreadsheet, along with Autodesk, to design roller coasters and other theme park rides.
How does Excel help? The article quotes senior designer Craig Breckenridge: “Some structural-analysis and dynamic-analysis tools used at Dynamic Structures come from companies that work closely with Autodesk. But the company still relies on an Excel spreadsheet to “control” those two programs and provide all the geometrical design information.”
